Hello everyone. My name is Tiffini Varrasse. I teach 5th grade special education. I live in Wilmington, Delaware which makes me on eastern time. I live down the beach during my summers and am trying to enjoy my time off. I have a second job in which I work mostly at night bartending. If we need to collaborate, during the day or mornings work best with my schedule. Math is my favorite subject to teach so I chose to start a group for this subject in hopes to get new ideas to enhance my lessons and engage my students. I am looking forward to working with all of you.

Hello. My name is Sarah Williams. I have taught in Southern Maryland for eight years, so I am also on eastern time. I work best in the mornings, but will be traveling all around visiting family during this class, so I work when I am able to get an Internet connection. I am very lucky to teach eighth grade Algebra 2 and a pre-engineering class called Gateway to Technology. I hope to learn about different technological tools which have practical applications for the classroom. I hope that together, we can each strengthen the resources available to us. Sarah
Hello All, I am a 5th grade teacher beginning in August. I am transferring to a new school and new grade. I taught 6th grade for a number of years. I recently got engaged to a kindergarten teacher at the school we both worked with. I am looking forward to a new challenge, and I am hoping it will be a good refresher for me to. I teach all subjects but as Tiffini said, math is my favorite to teach. Sean
Hi Everyone, My name is Jillian Engelhardt and I'm a fifth grade Math and Language Arts teacher from New Jersey. I have been teaching at the Walter T. Bergen Middle School since April of 2009 and I have had a great time finding my teaching philosophy and growing as an educator. Next year I have been switched from fifth grade Language Arts to fifth grade Social Studies and I'll also be teaching 4 sections of math. I really love teaching math and the funny thing is I never thought I would be teaching math full time. I always thought it would be language arts or a generalist. I have really grown to find my love for math and providing my students with alternatives and different methods to solve their problems. I think the reason I have seen major growth in my students is because I struggled in math when I was in elementary school and I try to give my students different ways to find their solution and they really all seem to enjoy being able to solve problems in different ways and offering their help to one another. I'm excited to work with everyone throughout the summer! Jillian
Hello, I am Judy Spears. I have been teaching in Columbia, South Carolina for fourteen years. For the past few years I have bounced around from a whole school science teacher to fourth grade homeroom, then third grade and I am returning to fourth grade this fall. I enjoyed being a science teacher for the entire school but discovered it really was not my passion. I now teach all subject areas and my favorite is math. My summer schedule is sort of flexible if I know ahead of time. My family and I do a lot of outdoor work and activities during the summer but I usually have my computer close by. I will be traveling some in July and Internet connections may get scarce at times. I will try to stay in touch as much as possible during this time. I am looking forward to working with you on this project. Judy
Hello All, My name is Jackie Szczerba (Pronounced zerba). I have been teaching 12 years, but not consecutively. I teach at Marbrook Elementary in Delaware. For the last four years, I have taught 3rd and 5th grades. My school is a title 1, ELL school. Next year, I will be moving to a new position as our school's first technology teacher. I am very excited, but nervous about my new position. A little about my personal life... I am married with two amazing kids! They are both athletes, which keeps me very busy year round! I am also a volunteer fire fighter and an EMT for the Hockessin Fire Company for the last 16 years! As you can see, I am very busy, but I wouldn't have it any other way. Jackie
Hello everyone! My name is Lindzey O'Brien. I live in Marietta, Georgia. I have a wonderful husband and 2 spoiled four-legged children, Luckie and Paisley. I have taught first grade for 6 years, but decided to loop up with my class to 2nd grade this year. I am so excited! I am excited to begin this wiki with everyone! Good luck and cheers! Hello All, My name is Kenny Bellino. I live just outside of Bemidji, Minnesota. I have taught for 10 years now, and 7 years in my current position as a high school business teacher. I chose the math wiki because I am a member of my school's math professional learning team. I am trying to enjoy the summer as much as possible with my wife and two children (girl who is 3, and a boy who is 1). It has been hot this summer here and we have had some pretty bad storms that took the power out for a few days--we had some unplanned camping experiences!! When I am not working on class assignments I have 11 trees in my yard to clean up from 90 mile an hour winds and a roof that I plan to get around to shingling. I look forward to working with you all on this wiki. Kenny
Hello! My name is Nicole deMoll and I live and teach in MD. For the past few years I have been teaching kindergarten in a Title I school, but I am transferring to a new school for the coming school year and I will be teaching first grade for the first time and I am very excited! My new school has an interactive white board and an Elmo in every classroom! I am married and I have an 8 month old daughter that keeps me busy... and we are expecting baby #2 in February! I look forward to this learning community!
